BevCon Excursion: Beer Brewing and Business BS

Sun, Aug 21, 2016 at 8:30am

This event has passed.

This excursion will bring attendees into the heart of the brewing process.  Over the course of six hours, we will explore all aspects of small-batch brewing. We will discuss and examine raw materials; work through the process of creating a batch of beer; discuss the current state of the industry; and, of course, participate in extensive quality assurance.

All guests will have the opportunity to participate in the brewing process, and pepper the owners of Tradesman Brewing with questions about the business and creative aspects of making beer.

Guest speakers will include beer historian Timmons Pettigrew and certified cicerone Brandon Plyler, resident beer educator for Edmund’s Oast and The Charleston Beer Exchange. Bohemian Bull Tavern & Beer Garden will serve lunch.

This is an extremely hands-on experience, complete with noise, hard floors and chances to get dirty; attendees are encouraged to dress appropriately and wear closed-toed shoes. All participants will go home with a growler of the beer made that day.
